Shed Electrical Wiring
Panel capacity is usually the constraint nobody checked. New construction wiring is judged by the inspection, so it gets planned to pass the first time.

What this work actually involves
Circuits are planned against the finished room, including the loads nobody mentions until later, like a freezer or a treadmill.
The order is always the same: reproduce it, measure it, say what the number means, fix the thing the number points at. Nothing gets bundled on the way past.
Permits and inspections happen where the municipality requires them, and the panel is left labeled. One person does all of it.
When people call about this
- An addition with no panel capacity
- A garage becoming a workshop
- An ADU on the plans
- A bathroom with one outlet
Why people choose Clint for it
Nobody here earns more by finding more. That is the structural reason the small answer gets given when the small answer is true.

Where this is done
O’Fallon is home and the shortest drive. Beyond it, St. Charles County, St. Louis County, St. Louis City, Lincoln County and Warren County.

Panel capacity is the usual constraint
A finished basement adds lighting, receptacles, often a bathroom and sometimes a kitchenette. Each is modest; together they are a load the original service may not have.
The calculation happens before the framing, because finding out at inspection is expensive.
Rough-in records save walls
Photographs of the rough-in, taken before insulation, are worth more than anyone expects. Two years later they show exactly where a cable runs behind finished drywall.
Labeling at both ends does the same job for the next electrician.

Feeding an outbuilding
A shed or detached garage is a separate structure, which brings its own rules: a disconnect at the building, a grounding electrode there, and a feeder sized for the distance rather than the load alone.
The run is buried at the required depth in a wiring method rated for it, and the voltage drop over the distance is calculated rather than assumed.
What the price actually depends on
Three things move the number on almost every job: how far the run has to travel and what it passes through, whether the existing panel has space and the service has capacity, and whether the municipality wants a permit and an inspection. None of those is visible from the phone call, which is why the measurement comes before the quote.
What does not move it is urgency theatre. There is no inflated figure waiting to be discounted, and no bundle built so the thing you called about cannot be bought on its own.
Permits, inspections and why they vary here
Requirements genuinely differ across this metro. O’Fallon, St. Charles, St. Peters, the St. Louis County municipalities and St. Louis City each run their own process, and what one treats as a minor repair another permits and inspects.
Work that needs a permit gets one, and work that needs an inspection is left ready for it with the panel labeled and the junctions accessible. That matters most before a closing, when an inspector’s written item becomes someone’s negotiating position.
“Clint did an excellent job installing two bathroom exhaust fans. He installed high-quality fans that were far superior to the ones I had purchased from a big box store. I highly recommend his services.”

How the visit goes
- The call
The plans, the rooms, and what will actually be in them when it is finished.
- The measurement
Load calculation before framing, panel capacity, and a circuit plan drawn against the finished use rather than the label on the drawing.
- The finding
Whether the existing service covers the project, and what the rough-in needs to include so nothing is opened up twice.
- The work
Rough-in labeled and photographed before insulation, inspection timed around the other trades, devices and fixtures at finish, final inspection attended.
What the job includes
- Circuit plan drawn against the finished room, not the label on the plan
- Load calculation before framing, so capacity is known early
- Rough-in labeled and photographed before insulation
- Coordination with the other trades on inspection timing
- Device and fixture install at finish
- Final inspection attended
What it does not
- Framing, drywall and finishing
- Cabinetry and appliance supply
- Permit fees, which are passed through at cost
Work that is not electrical gets a referral, not a quote. Finished work is in the gallery. To book, pick a day.

Shed Electrical Wiring across the metro
Housing stock varies sharply across the counties here, and so does the work. Out of O’Fallon across thirty municipalities, where the permit process changes more than the work does.
St. Charles County
Condition is rarely the problem in St. Charles County. Capacity usually is, and the two have very different prices.
St. Louis County
Older stock that has been worked on repeatedly, so a panel here has often been added to three or four times by different hands.
St. Louis City
Much of this stock is two and four family, which means shared services and panels that are rarely labeled accurately.

Questions worth asking first.
How many circuits does a kitchen need?
More than most older kitchens have: counter receptacles, dishwasher, disposal, microwave, refrigerator and range each have requirements. The plan is drawn against the appliances actually being installed.
When should the electrician come in on a remodel?
Before the drywall. Rough-in is when circuits are cheap to place, and that is the one chance to put them where the finished room will actually be used.
Will my panel carry a finished basement?
That is the question to answer first. A finished basement adds lighting, outlets and often a bathroom or a freezer, and the load calculation shows whether the existing service covers it.
Are you licensed and insured?
Licensed, bonded and insured, with workers compensation coverage, and accredited A+ with the BBB since 2022.
